For $500 it's either fake or stolen.
Everything looks legit to me, but I'd be pretty skeptical of that price. This is one where my mind runs to either a bait and switch where you pay for the bass pictured and they send you a bass they got off Aliexpress in a gig bag. Or, they don't send you anything at all.
It certainly looks the real thing to me - but the price is so ridiculously low it sets off warning bells. 
I haven't looked at the link, but I'd assume it's a new seller with no reviews. Pretty common scam setup here.

I mean, it COULD be real… Nothing is impossible… But it's certainly bizarre if so…. The photos appear to be of a legitimate Rickenbacker bass, from what I can tell. Even has the OEM hardcase…. But as other people said, at such a cheap price for a such a minty Rick… That's frankly a red flag.

I guess theoretically you could come across someone that "just wants to get rid of it", i would be highly skeptical.

Don't surprised if whomever bought that never gets anything at all shipped to them, fake or real. BTDT, filed a fraud claim with my CC, got reimbersed the full amount. It seems the fraudsters like to price stuff at ~ 1/3 the actual value, like that's the Goldilocks Price to lure the something-for-nothing types.
Another popular online scam is when an item is offered at a "one time discount trial basis price", no subscription needed. But in reality you've actually subscribed, despite that nowhere on any of the ad pages is there any fine print about subscriptions. They have your CC info and continue billing you every month for the full non-discounted price. They do however, send you the product every month. Got CBD oil?

Its just a Chinese knockoff. I bought a 4001 5 years ago for $350. Used it for firewood. There was no saving it. I have saved other chinese basses though. Just bought and sold a Yin&Yang copy. Had to shim the neck pocket, level the frets, switch the pots around so they made sense LOL. It played fine after that. Install a set of pups and it would be fine. Somebody else can do that, it is gone!
