Does this type of pickup exist?

A big single, in an emg35, is the equivalent of a P90 bass pickup

A Big Single is a Jazz bass pickup with the magnets shifted a bit. A P 90 has pole pieces (a big single doesn't), and a couple magnets coming on at the bottom. A Big Blade (another Nordstrand pickup) is closer to a P 90 in it's magnetic structure than a Big single - it has magnets and pole pieces (OK, one blade) that are structurally pretty much the same as a P 90.

Nordstrand's Soapbar pickups are available in EMG sizes, or Bart sizes. The stuff that makes the pickup sound one way or the other doesn't change depending on which size you pick - only the plastic around it (that holds it in place) changes.

A big single is still a great pickup (I have a couple on order as I type this) - it's just not that much like a P 90.

The blades are a single bar with a ceramic magnet.

Big Singles have alnico magnets, with the pole pieces tilted so that Carey can put more wire on the poles.

The shape, is the entire question that was asked. A standard single coil pickup, in an emg 35 shape (flat and wide), is the answer to his question.

My response was to your assertion that a Big Single was like a P90, not the OP’s question.

Nope. I’m asking about the shape of the bobbin, not the pickup casing. The bobbin and windings on a split P are flat and wide, which is what I was asking about. The bobbin on a Big Single is tall and skinny-ish. The EMG35 cover has no bearing on what’s going on underneath.
