Doesn't Geddy sound way better this tour?

Where do they come up with this stuff?
A few people also said the didn't see any Orange gear but they did say they spotted his rack gear.
So it beats me.
He probably just changed some settings on that.
I just read in Wikapedia that he is in fact using the oranges.
I 'm pretty sure once it's in Wikapedia, it's written in stone.
Saw them in Toronto last night and thought Geddy's vocals were AMAZING... except for Temples of Syrinx. He really shouldn't sing this song anymore IMO. Even a step down, it is too high for him. Everything else was amazing.
I have seen Rush AT LEAST 20 times since 1981 and this was the best they have ever played IMO. My wife loved them, my 14 year old son loved them and even my 65 year old dad said it was the best concert he had very seen.
I really didn't like Geddy's bass tone though. It was waaayyyy to trebly. He had obviously dimed the bass and treble. Funny that on Closer to the Heart, the treble was backed off and it was the only song in which I thought the tone was great.
Funny thing.... Alex totally blew the first note of his Limelight solo. Pretty funny actually... he was visably pi$$ed!
A road dog I know had lunch with Rush's FOH guy today so I texted hi to ask if Geddy is in fact using his Orange amps and if that's the sound coming out through the mains and he texted back yes. No further details were forthcoming, I'm afraid, and neither was my hook-up to see them at Mohegan Sun tonight.
So I just went to the Rush concert here in Seattle last night. I had never been to a Rush concert so I can't compare his tone to past concerts, but I can say it had that Sansamp sound from the Snakes and Arrows Blu-Ray I own. It was totally missing the "meat" (aka midrange) and sounded really brittle and had too much bite. I kinda wanted to hear Moving Pictures with the lower mids boosted to hear that deep growl that we've grown to love... but was slightly disappointed. I'm pretty sure he told the public he endorses Orange but just doesn't really use it. Wikipedia is just rewritten words from other publications--and other publications can say whatever they want about him running Orange--I don't believe any of it to be true.
On top of that, Geddy changed out his pickguard and neck. If anybody noticed, he's running pearl block inlays and a pearloid pickguard /w Time Machine Logo on it.

The bass changes have been talked about in other threads. As to his running orange, I swear I read they were being used in his backline or some such thing. As I understand this, Geddy is still using the Sansamp and going direct, but the Orange amps are in there somewhere.
I wish someone would do an interview with Geddy (assuming he would do one) and show us all the changes with his new gear.
don't base anything about geddy's tone from saturday's show. the white river echonasium is gggggooooooddddd awful for rock shows. we had ear plugs and his sound was fine, but obviously lacking a little highs due to the plugs.
seriously, that damn place is just awful.
you know, part of this whole equation is geddy himself. not like his equipment defines what he sounds like. put him on anything and he's going to get the geddy lee sound. might not be identical in every way but he'll find a way to make it his own.
I was at the 8-9-10 NorCal Shoreline stop for the Time Machine Tour last night. Great show, haven't seen Rush in almost 20 years and they sounded better than ever. As I was in the cheap seats (lawn) I spent most of the concert watching the video screens. Terriffic multi-media event. Their sense of humor was prevelant. Geddy sounded fantastic! Excellent definition with a good balance of sizzle and beef. All the discussion about Sansamp vs Orange, Fender vs Rick is moot. All Geddy needs for his tone is his fingers and a bass with newish strings. (roundwound of course)
No argument here Jimmy. But his tone had much more bass and much more presence than when I saw them at the same venue the last tour....
I was there at Shoreline on 8-9-10 and on the lawn as well and I have to agree, Geddy was fantastic. I was at the Shoreline show two years ago - my first time seeing Rush - and they were great but they're even better this year and Geddy was better, too. Geddy's playing was phenomenal and don't forget, the genius of Geddy is being able to play one rhythm (usually very complicated) on his bass and sing something totally different. That's NOT easy.
Rush really looked like they were having fun on stage as well as in their videos. What a great show! And any bass player simply ought to see Geddy and Rush at least once even if you're not a huge Rush fan - you'll be inspired!
