Doesn't Geddy sound way better this tour?

Jojo's, huh? Cool! I'll be the big shaved-head dud without the Rush Tee.
BTW: Just dropped off my new 60-pound (?) baby, a Sunn 2000s with Jon Blick, THE local amp tech in town for a tuneup. Haven't had a chance to crank it yet but I'm looking forward to my first tubegasm in 25 years, Yum!

First I went hear, http://www.dimeadozen.org/index.php
You have to make a password and user name.

Then I Typed in Rush in the search index, then I looked through the list of shows, there are many.

After selecting the show, I downloaded the flac file using Limewire.

After downloaded, I had to convert the flac file to mp3. by downloading the 'switch sound file converter'.

I was then able to open the mp3's using 'Music match jutebox'.
[I am sure the programs I used like Limewire and Switch converter and Music match can all be substituted with a similar program].

This was a bit tricky for me and it's even more tricky trying to explain what I did. So I expect you might find it a pain in the ass too. It took me hours and was frustrating.

Look through the section tittled 'different stages' which is where you will find links to many many rush boots.
They also discuss how to download torrent files.

Like I said, I expect you may have trouble so don't be mad at me if you do.:( But I am a nice guy and will try and help you.
I just hope your better with computers then I am, because I suck.

was at the milwaukee show yesterday and can confirm his bass is more beefy and less muddy and more present...really hit you in the gut even with the chords he hits on the d and g strings...nice...I was smack in the middle of the seats too for once....

Alex had probs with his guitar twice....

I was there too, about 27 rows up (Sec 1 row AA seat 32)

And yes Geds sound was amazing as was his voice! The two glitches with Alex's guitars was kind of funny and I kind of liked the opening of La Villa w/o guitar messing up Geddy's playing

Honestly, the sound mix was night and day over last year at the Marcus! I honestly think the band has never sounded better and last night was one of the finest Rush shows I have ever seen!

So what did they change? new amplification? New sound mixer? Magic beans in the coffee??

Dang it I missed you guys, hadnt been reading, the board enough latley I was in Red section 1 Row EE, Seat 42 at summerfest.
But Geddys tone was awesome, I could feel it in my chest.
The one ting I noted is the G sting On hiss Jazzes seemed to louder than the other 3 strings.

Well in my opinion, something was missing in his tone the last 8 or so years. It had no bark and no bite.
It seems like all the wrong frequency's like the deep deep lows and the highest highs were too loud leaving the meaty portion of his tone appear to be scooped out.
It sounded odd, very odd to me.

That would be a good reason for me to switch to a more realistic setup, but I can't speak for the Ged man.

Thats just my thoughts. However, many people loved his tone the past 8 years, so I don't claim to be right.:cool:

They did "Leave That Thing Alone" and his bass tone had more treble and top end than on the same song on the "Different Stages" CD.

People are definitely getting the wrong impression of his live sound for this tour simply because they've read that he's using Orange amps. There was nothing in his bass tone from what I heard two nights ago that suggested he's even actually using an Orange bass amplifier.

I can't confirm what he's using. For all I know it could be the same set up as the last few tours. In fact, I wouldnt be suprised if it was the same.

But, from the few recordings I heard, he truly sound better.:)

I don't know if Orange has anything to do with his tone, but something is different. My understanding is the Orange amp(s) are in Geddy's back line, I would assume the rest of the chain is the same?

It was night and day different at the Marcus Amphitheater over what it was 1 year ago. And since Russ is no longer Geddys tech....fat chance of knowing what is different. But something is different. And I like it!

I googled and was suprised to find he had changed to Orange AFTER seeing them in Milwaukee. I searched specifically because his tone hit me so much more this time compared to the Snakes tour which I saw twice at the Marcus..deeper and punchier.."felt" much more than the last two times..tube tone? possibly though I did not see any orange speakers in the backline as they tore it down

A few people also said the didn't see any Orange gear but they did say they spotted his rack gear.

So it beats me.:confused:
