What gauge are these? Are you running them through-body? Scale length? I need at least 37.5” to get past my nut with through-body.

Dogal Jaco Flatwound Review (Pics Added)

Just checked these out, they look right up my alley.

The gauges are custom - .35, .50, .70, .98, .128
According to the package they are Carbon Steel and at pitch are less than 5 KGS (11 Lbs) of tension per string. So the total tension on the bass is 55 Lbs.
This is a 35" scale strung thru the bridge, they would not be long enough nor would I recommend stringing these thru the body. I didn't cut these at all just in case I want to put them on a different bass at some point in time.
I used them in a rehearsal last night and they sounded awesome and the tone was huge!

I love TI's but these are much better finished than TI's, higher quality.
TI's are stainless steel and feel rough to the touch, the Dogals are polished Carbon Steel and feel smooth as glass.
The story on these is that Jaco was in Italy in 1986 on tour and needed strings. They took him to the Dogal factory, discussed what he wanted and literally made strings for him on the spot, hence the Jaco name. Notice they aren't using his last name so there is no issue. It's an implied endorsement I suppose.

Thanks. Either that is badly worded/translated, or I call major BS on my fellow countryfolk. Even a guitar .009 steel high E has more than 11lbs of tension.
That's cool, believe what you want but they are low tension and they feel and sound great. Very responsive to the touch and bendable for vibrato and nuanced playing technique.
I believe every word of this. What I don't believe is the 5 kg figure. Take a known entity, like a D'Addario or GHS 060 roundwound D string. Tune it one full octave down. Yeah, down to D below low E. For reference, those are 5 kgs. Are the Dogals that floppy?
There’s also a 040 .060 .075 .095 set. Price from SBM is about the same as a set of TIs from FN.
Tension has nothing to do with floppiness. If you don’t believe me try a set of Labella Low Tension flats which have lower tension than TI’s yet feel tighter under the fingers. Tension and floppiness do not always correlate...it has to do with string construction.
I'm well aware of all that. However, Dogal also claim increased flexibility of their Jaco System strings, which would make them vaguely in the ballpark of rounds. That aside, imagine tuning all the strings of a 45-65-85-105 set an octave lower. Do you think you wouldn't notice the vast difference in tension, strictly inasmuch as it manifests in ways other than the playing feel (namely, without resetting the truss rod the neck would have no relief and the strings would buzz like crazy)?
I reiterate: the 5kg/11lb-per-string figure is impossible.
