Dogal Jaco Flatwound Review (Pics Added)

Yes, there is plenty of silk and the metal does not enter the string post. You should not have any problem.
If you were to go through the body, these should be flexible enough. However, I think they might last longer with a top-load. I still have my set, which is the 40-125 gauge.
I would email Dogal and ask them. I would inagine that a 120 will break unless it's a taper core

Easy on the fretting hand,yet you can still be articulate?I just ordered a 105-45 set,can't wait!I hurt my fretting hand several years ago and can no longer use the 760 fl for long without pain in my hand and forearm.I've been tempted by Thomastik but I worry about my finger articulation.This might be the string I've been searching for.If not,maybe the vintage set.I play R@B.

Well,they arrived today.All I can say is wow!
I do have one concern however,the A string.All of the strings sound fantastic but the A sounds a bit weak,different than the rest.When I first unroled it,it looked like it had a few slight bends in it.I've been playing flats for 25 yrs.so I know it takes time for them to settle in and sound right.Have any of you experienced this?If so,did it eventually come to life,fatten up.Don't get me wrong,I love them.Probably the best I've used,and I've used many.Matt at strings by mail told me that it didn't start to sound fuller he would send me another.Great customer service!This is my first time with round core strings.I'm gonna give them a while and see what happens.I also want to try the vintage set.By the way mine are Jaco 105-45.

Oh yea,fretted at C of above it sound perfect.It only when I play B,B flat and open A that it sounds that way.I'm thinking maybe the nut?
I haven’t had any similar issue w/ Dogal flats. Were they like this straight out of the pack, or did it occur after you trimmed them? (IF you trimmed them, that is....) Matt at SBM will get you taken care of if it’s defective!
You may just need to loosen the truss rod a little bit. Glad you like them! I’m still on my first set but I may eventually get another.
I did a while back. They said it’s not an issue. It’s the flexible core, should be okay. But I wound up top loading mine.

decided to wait to try them on a bass that’s still being built. But I’m excited to try them!
Well,I put them on my 99/2000 MIA Pbass and...problem solved! All the strings sound great now.I can't put this thing down.I have played flats for many years and tried many brands and the Dogal Jaco flats are my favorite by a good margin.
The issue I had initially was the nut on the 70'S CV Squier,I'll have that fixed soon.
Like I said,I've played on these strings a lot,probably 30-45 hrsand they are settling in nicely.I do have one question for those of you who have had them on longer than me.How long did it take for your top strings to loose there initial brightness?Or do they?I'm sure they have lost some over the time Ive had them on,but the G in particular sounds brighter than the rest.Regardless,I absolutely love them.Thanks guys!

You might ought to check the pickup height under the G, it may be overbalancing the rest of the strings causing it to speak louder in comparison to the others. In regard to the fact that that they are new, they will break in and settle down and not be so "live", maybe that's what you are hearing.
Also, check your amp tone settings, flat's eq differently than roundwounds.
And, you can always roll off some high end on your bass.
The Dogal's are my favorite flats by far, I love the low tension, feel and sustain. Good luck.
Everything is set up properly and I have played flats for a long time.I was just wondering how much the top mellows.You know what I mean,some do more than others.I am 100% with you on Dogal Jaco's being your favorite set of flats.Even now,not quite settled in,they are mine.Thanks to everyone for pointing me in this direction,these will stay on my main P bass until one breaks.Then,more of the same.Thanks again.
