Dom is a madman on the bass, I love his use of tapping on a fretless. Also, is it just me or is his plucking hand technique really odd?

It's cause he uses a 1-2-4 technique (or 4-2-1) instead of 3-2-1 for 16ths. Odd indeed. You can see it pretty clearly in the Beyond Creation music video I linked above, during the solo.

Unfortunately Dominic is no longer with Beyond Creation (since Feb 2015 apparently). I saw them at Heavy Mtl (Montreal) in 2014 and they were killer!! This news bummed me out because I just found out they'll be in Ottawa tomorrow night. That said, his replacement is also a 6-string fretless player who can apparently hold his own... but I'm still excited to see what Dom has in store for the future.

I saw another one of their videos a couple days ago but I can't remember the song. It was just a jumble of notes to me at the time. And the video was really stupid.

I took some lessons with Forest as well. He's an outstanding bassist, a really nice guy, and a fantastic teacher. He rocks roundwounds on his fretlesses - that's how his tapping is so bright and clean sounding. I learned a lot from him.
