Donating instruments: A pain in the arse!

Public schools are pretty much a travesty from top to bottom. Bureaucratic Charlie Foxtrots and nothing more.

Find a private or charter school to donate to next time. Less hassle and they probably have a better program anyway.

You will all be glad to hear that I dropped off the basses today.

The band director and the students were thrilled to get them!

Apparently, they are used to getting junk. But, these were in good shape.....

The band director even asked me if I was sure that I wanted to donate them. :)

And I got a receipt right away. All in all it was a good experience.

They even want me to come back and do a demo....

SCARY!! :D

We donated an old piano--we go it for free--and didn't have the space for it--it wasn't in tune either--I would have loved to have kept it, but it didn't make sense--so one day I will buy an electronic keyboard that will use up less space & not require tuning. (I can easily tune guitars, basses, etc.)
We know a music teacher who asked about it when we were looking to get rid of it. Used acoustic pianos are a tough sale...

Five years ago I picked up a 150 year old foot pedal organ from the front yard of an elderly lady that sold her home. She was throwing it out!! Much of it was in pieces. Not a big deal to me as woodwork is one of my passions. I spent the rest of the weekend helping her as felt I needed to do something for this piece of history. It's been an ongoing restoration project for me and is a proud addition to our family room.... But yeah I bet I couldn't give the thing away.
