Sweetwater has never been great, lots of ads. they have use used car psychology to get you to pay for the mediocrity they can do. Never a great price an Indiana false ethics and lip when you talk to them. You smelled when you bought. Now you taste it. The dont provide truly fair pricing , and truly expect fair service? After many bad customer service experiences, my last item was defective. They have been unresponsive and just difficult. I just canceled an order for a guitar and they were like, okay see ya. Now I have to wait 1-2 weeks for them to process the return of the item so that I can cancel my credit card.
From whom do y’all purchase guitars?
Do you work for sweetwater?i've bought a *lot* of stuff from sweetwater over the years and never had any problem. in fact, they've even helped me out with stuff that was out of warranty. the experience you describe is difficult to believe. do you work for a competitor?
I found them amusing. It's kinda like....oh, so you're my latest sales rep. Truly when I call to order, I almost never ask for the guy I'm assigned to I just place the order with the first rep available.Yeah, the calls were annoying, but they haven't call me for a while since I asked them several times to stop.
I just found that on the GC website. I guess I wasn’t paying much attention to either of them before that!@gregbackstrom yes, GC took over in 2000, MF was a separate company until then.
Are you a disgruntled ex-employee? If you’ve been a customer you must’ve had an even worse experience [that you won’t make clear] than the OP ... or anyone else. I’ve never before heard “used car psychology” WRT Sweetwater nor can I suss out what “the mediocrity they can do” even means. Prices on most good brands are determined by the manufacturer/dealer agreement they have to comply with so they won’t (can’t) discount unless you buy a bundle of goods. I wonder what you consider to be “truly fair pricing” and “fair service.” Never mind; I don’t wonder.Sweetwater has never been great, lots of ads. they have use used car psychology to get you to pay for the mediocrity they can do. Didn’t care for the tone, sounded to baked in for my likes, I guess having and gigging a Mesa Walkabout spoiled me and I was kind of expecting it to be similar...
So I said I would help him out and ordered the Apollo, but not before I asked him if there was anything I should be aware of from UA before I made the purchase. ...

As a European I always like reading what Americans like about customer service. For me it is completely different.I'm a Sweetwater fanboy. I freakin' LOVE that store for a number of reasons.
I'm a technology guy, so I have no use for the catalog. I usually pitch it straight into the garbage can. Their prices aren't the best, but I'm happy to pay a little more to get great service.
- When I order online they CALL and confirm my order, tell me if it's in stock, and when it will ship.
- My sales rep is so good he'll often tell me about better products that are cheaper than what I ordered
- I love when my rep calls...I mean...I'm a bass player, how can I NOT love talking about gear
- GEARFEST...if you haven't been you won't understand. It's an experience!
- Did I mention I love my rep and look forward to his calls. Great guy who has taken good care of me over the years. I always appreciate being treated like a human being. Never can understand the people bothered by a phone call.
- Fantastic customer service...best of any organization I've ever dealt with. I actually spoke to their HR department about how they train their employees. The HR lady was also fantastic.
- Technology - The website is easy to use and during Gearfest, the use of mobile point of sale is outstanding
- Returns - I've returned several items. I always got an RMA the same day and never had an issue of getting credited.
- Selection - they have almost everything I want...often times in stock.
- Shipping - I get things to my door in two days...for free
I also do my best to frequent my local independently owned music stores, but they have limited inventory for some things.
What kind of discount? What freebies? What do you mean by accountable?I have a "personal sales rep" at Sweetwater, who when I order from direct over the phone, gives a discount, throws in freebies, depending on the size of the purchase. Also, if there's a problem, I call him directly and he handles everything for me personally, and is accountable.
Because you may want to take the call. My phone doesn't recognize every phone number. Could be related to your work/business, could be a headhunter about a job, could be a family member.
