Don't "clench your buttocks" around cops...

Strawman. I was clearly confronting the concept of "police state".

Following your logic here is what is the problem.

Once again, corruption was widespread and rampant to the point that likely every person encountered it in this country.

This shouldn't be that hard to evaluate.

I don't get outraged by these incidents because they are so isolated it serves me no purpose to make stereotypes or blanket theories about the state of 350 million people in the fourth largest country by land area in the world.

I see multiple people calling out my "logic" (i.e. FACTS) and then presenting logic that is based on stereotypes, blanket theories, conspiracy theories, flawed perspectives, etc.

Visit the inner-city much? And of course me assuming no is in no way a generalization.

Lets not confuse "logic" with "fact" though. Logic is a beautiful thing but facts are sometimes quite ugly. InFACT, police misconduct, human warehousing, and state sanctioned civil executions are VERY common occurances in many communities and are isolated in the media only.

That's where this gets dicey - using my own state for example, a few years back, the State Police were accused of racial profiling in the stops on some of the major highways here. They denied and denied it again, until they were finally busted with evidence that they WERE stopping a disproportionate number of minority motorists. It had been getting more prevalent which is why it was caught.
It was an accusation that was put forth, denied, then proven correct.

Now this has nothing to do with the past and how things were 'worse" and we have nothing major to worry about now. Bad things can happen at any time. We're not above it.
IMO We should always be vigilant because again - looking back through history, you can see time and time again how things went bad when folks let their guard down.

I'm not one to throw around the "police state" thing, though it's admittedly easier to do now with the TSA, NSA and all things in between, but whether you believe it 100%, or sneer at the notion, instances like that cited by the OP *ARE* cause for concern and they damn well should be regardless of whether one believes it is widespread or an extremely isolated incident.

Ain't that the truth.

Too much leisure time + nothing to complain about.

So getting kidnapped and gang raped is not worth complaining about?

[citation needed]

You're making multiple assumptions with no evidence, but pretending they're FACTS and anyone who denies it is just a hatery mchaterson. I also point out that no one has talked about the "police state" but you here.

Are you suggesting "banning together" or that i've broken some kind of rule?

If youve been around for a while as you say you have, then you should already be aware that we've had several "new users" who were previously registered members that tried to sign up new accounts after having been banned in the past month.

Apparently you are now suspect, as your join date is quite recent and your profile is empty.
If you are not a returning former member you should be fine.
If you are, however, a mod will be looking into your IP address to verify and a you'll likely not make it through the day.

Following your logic here, since no American gays are getting beheaded like the Saudi Arabian gay community, they all need to just STFU if some of them get beaten up right? "How dare you get outraged at these acts, don't you know how much worse it is elsewhere?!?!?!"

I know cops used to be even more violent and corrupt than they tend to be now. I fail to see how this mitigates against the evils those who are still corrupt commit.

I can honestly relate. I was young and idealist once. Now I want a blue card.

Much of what your describing is inherent in human nature. Visit a zoo and watch out nearest brothers on the tree of evolution and how they behave. Then go a Go Go bar. Just for research, of course.

I'm just a bit offended by your inference that Saudi Arabia routinely beheads gays. I do not believe that happens. If we expect other to respect our ways we would do well to respect theirs. And not tell tales that might not be based in fact.

And it's my opinion that polemics cause more problems that they solve.

Do the boys in blue and their antics make the world a better place? I'm not sure.

But remember that I grew up with things like A Boy and His Dog for reading material. I have a taste for anarchy.

Im just interested in the topic being discussed here. Not my intention at all to be forementioned topic, as i live it virtually everyday. Guess this is the part where i say "check please" and excuse myself from the table? To quote Homer Simpson; "i believe i had a hat". :banghead: gooday.
