DOS GAMES

That was cool... Like a pre-myst puzzle type game right?
Yep

Oh yeah, I was trying to remember that one. My buddy had that one, too.
I remember spending HOURS at my firiend Rob's house being freaked out by the content. The initial scene when Stauf murdered the girl with the hammer had us terrified. There were no computer games at the time that even came close to this level of development and content. Just a few years ago, I tried to get the game running on my current machine, but no luck. Being DOS-based, I couldn't get it up and running. There are instructions online, but they never worked for me. :(

I still have the discs for:

The Lord of the Rings, Vol. I
The Lord of the Rings, Vol. II: The Two Towers

...from Interplay. Haven't run them in a while, though. They were really popular a few years ago. I don't think Interplay ever finished the series with the eternally-anticipated The Lord of the Rings, Vol. III: The Return of the King.

I will check that out.

Also as I mentioned earlier, Sam and Max hit the Road was just as good as Monkey Island if not better...just a bit more slapstick than Monkey Island.

Yeah I keep meaning to start playing them. Some Steam downloads are in order I think. At first I was a bit confused by the episode structure.

Edit: Day of the Tentacle is a Maniac Mansion game and of Lucas Arts like Monkey Island. It is reminiscent of Monkey Island 3 and the graphics.

In the words of duke, "Holy cow!" (alien explodes). Thanks much guys! Lots of great stuff to check out, I don't know why, but I could never get into wolfenstein for more than 10 minutes :(, the others are awesome though! Does anyone remember chex quest / know a download site for it? When I run the one I found I get a half Doom half Chex Quest abomination, and in the words of duke again, "Heh, heh. What a mess."

I remember there was once a web site for downloading "abandoned" games that were out of "print" and whose publishers/developers no longer existed. I don't know if it's still around. I think the site was called "Abandonia" or something like that.

Jill of the Jungle hahaha SWEET

I'm having trouble installing these DOS games in Vista... it says

16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
"This system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose 'close' to terminate the application"
