Essentially, the differences lie in how the pre amp is voiced, and the additional features offered. So, Euphonic Audio built the Doubler with a different midrange voicing on each channel, Acoustic Image
built the Flex with two channels so you can have a different EQ for the two instruments. Most amplifiers don't offer that, but there are single channel amps, that sound better with DB. Tecamp comes to mind.
Since the largest segment of the market are bass guitarist, most amps are voiced for that instrument. In a nutshell, double basses benefit from low midrange controls, and bass guitars benefit from high midrange
controls, so as long as cut and boost those frequencies your good to go. Additionally, low cut filters, notch filters, and phase reverse controls are helpful when trying to control feedback with a double bass.
