Double Bass Double Bass In A Terrible Condition

During COVID, I made a bridge for my bass (professional-grade instrument in my profile photo to the left) and some other experiments using Chuck Traegar's books. I bought the book, bridge blank, strings, etc. from Gollihur Music. I ended up spending more than what I paid for luthier a few months ago to make a new professional-quality bridge.

Here's a link to Gollihur Music where your could see Chuck Traegar's books.

Setup and Repair of the Double Bass for Optimum Sound by Chuck Traeger

The neck block is not visible in any of the photos. What is visible under the fingerboard looks like a piece of 2x4 glued in with who knows what.

Realistically, it's a huge can o'worms that an actual bass luthier might take a pass on unless it's obvious that it's a great instrument worthy of investing unlimited resources. Guitar/banjo experience is not likely to be of use here.
