Thinking about turning a fretless P into a double P. Two Dimarzio Model Ps, that is. Fender MIM body. Brazilian rosewood fretboard on Warmoth flamed maple neck. Going to have the body routed for strings-through-body.

Thoughts on double-P fretless? Anyone have one? Current pickup is in standard Fender position. Which way to position the bridge pickup?

I've been on the fence all week about doing this to my fretless. It's got some pretty cheap pickups already and I'm much more of a p guy, except I'm thinking of doing it with 51 p pickups. I would think positioning the bridge near the 70s jazz location would be interesting with the treble side nearer the neck. Almost kinda like the hendrix reversed strat thing.

I think it might be kind of awesome.
I'm not gonna move the neck pickup, because I don't want to mess with custom pickguards, etc

Bridge pickup I'll try to put as close to the bridge as possible without touching. Not sure if I should do the "reverse P" in the bridge though.

I think the hotness of the DiMarzio P pickups mixed with the warmth of the Brazilian rosewood / lack of frets / passive electronics might make for some interesting tone.
