double tape deck suggestions?

Hi,
I'm not real experienced with recording. I use to use some old beat up tape recorder to record some practices, noodling, ideas and old band jams just so that we/I had something as a reference. Well, I have a lot of cassettes complied over the years and I kind of want to organize them by recording all the golden moments on newer tapes. So I am out to look for a double tape deck, but this being a dead media now I am having trouble figuring out what I should get or if I should even bother getting one. Anyone have any suggestions? I did a search not much info.

If you have the hard drive space, get a stereo RCA to miniplug adapter and jack into your computers sound card. Then record into audacity (free). Then you can burn to CD's or do anything you like. Copying tapes to tapes (at least cheap cassette tapes) is kind of like backing up floppy disks to floppy disks I think. There are better ways to save your stuff these days

+1 to hunta's suggestion.

If you really want to stick with cassette, I've seen quite a few used double decks on craigslist and in some of the older pawn shops around here recently. They were priced very low, like $10 or $20.
If you still have a functioning single well deck, or find two for sale, you could also just record from one to the other with a common RCA cord.

another vote to digitize your treasures. many of my old cassette recordings have a new life as a digital file on my 'puter. if only i could find a working 8 track player.....
