Maybe it's not what you'd like to hear, but I have to say it: doublenecks look so ugly to me, and cumbersome... Like a real frankenstein guitar... or freaky siamese twins if you prefer. Maybe for a guitarist who would like a 12-string to play some parts of a song, it would be useful.

But I don't know when a bassist would also need a guitar, unless he or she has to fulfill both roles at the same time? Actually I'm interested in knowing what a bass-guitar doubleneck would be used for, in general...

Also, are there any doublenecks that have, say, two bass necks?

Not that I would get one anytime soon, but I'm interested in learning new stuff.

A doubleneck with a bass & 6-string is useful when you have some Moog Taurus pedals - during the guitar solo, you can switch from bass to rhythm guitar, & play the bass part with your feet, ala Geddy Lee.
Currently gassing for a Rickenbacker 4080 doubleneck...

Since my guitar player just gave me his set of Moog Taurus pedals and asked that I learn to use them this might just be the justification I need to get a bass/guitar double-neck.

But then since I play about half our setlist on fretless and hate all the switching maybe I should opt for a fretted/fretless double.

Or maybe a fretted/fretless/guitar triple?

Too many choices........

I just won this at an obscenely low price the other day. Should be here in a day or two.

I've always been interested in doublenecks, and this one seems to be a superb deal. Even it's a piece of junk, the hardware should recoup some of the cost.

One thing I'm surprised hasn't been made is a bass/keytar double neck, seeing as there are a lot of bassists who also are on keyboard duties when recording.

The Steinberger/Washburn type like Rudy Sarzo played in the Whitesnake video Is this Love has been on my gas list for a long time. The design makes sense, it probably weighs much less than any other type of doubleneck.

The more I've thought about it, the more I realise a Keytar/bass double necker would be so useful for a keyboardist and bassist such as myself.
