There is definitely a double neck fretted/fretless in my future if I keep getting the bass player call. I find myself wanting to go back and forth often through the course of a typical set of music, and I'm tired of changing basses.

Stevie Ray Vaughan had a doubleneck bass/guitar. The bass was an E-E 6 string. It was on the cover of Guitar Player magazine some time ago.

Just look at all those switches and knobs! I wouldn't be able to make adjustments on the fly with that thing, I have a hard enough time with 2 vols, 2 tones and a 3 way switch lol!

That's what sound checks are for.

SFF the progressive rock instrumental trio from Germany. Bassist Heinz Frohling had this made for him and it is a striking instrument albeit an odd combo.
But when listening to the sounds he gets out of it, it is a quite capable instrument in the hands of a more than experienced musician!

Mike Ruthorford from Genesis had a Shergold bass/12 string guitar that was a 'clip together' thing. He could add a lower or upper wing to each instrument to turn it into a single neck, or he could clip the two instruments together as a double neck.
Seems like a cool idea. Wonder how practical it was.

Can't forget the original doubleneck guitar/bass: The Gibson EBS-1250! Invalid Link Removed I guess there were only like 30 made. But anyway, I can see the use of a double bass, exp. for different tunings. Anyone though about a double-neck baritone (ala Fender Bass VI)/Bass. That would be pretty cool.
