I have a SX BG 180 that I am sending back on monday and exchanging for a Douglas WPB-980. I really like the Essex, but I heard that the Douglas is a better bass. Hope I am right.

I've been working for over a week to try and find a Douglas WVEB violin bass in a frettless version. I'm really comming up empty. It looks like Rondo is the only game in town and the do not have any in stock. I sent Kurt an e-mail, but he only told me that they didn't have any.

Can anyone help?

Certainly not a big club but I really enjoy playing these basses. Here are mine for the record.

My WEB 825 NA converted into a lined fretless, passive bass. Stock bridge humbucker and Seymour Duncan Basslines SJB-5N stacked neck pickup. GHS tape wound strings. I use it for jazz only.

For all other genres of music, I play my Pisces. Headstock has been reshaped and a GFS Lil Killer (for strat) pickup installed. GHS tape wound strings.

Interesting...a douglas owners club. count me in, dude. I have a douglas web 825 5-string bass in a black finish. I'll take #7.

I completely forgot about this club. Albeit small, maybe it will grow now so thanks for bringing it back. For those interested, here's a sound sample of a GFS Lil Killer strat pickup installed in my Pisces.

It's a good, inexpensive alternative to the stock pickup if you don't like the single coil hum.
