DR FAT BEAMS STRINGS

Been using Fat Beams for a while now. I like em. I got a new set the other day and noticed something odd with the set. I thought at first, the 4th string was darker then the rest...But after a few minutes...It really seems like the 3rd string (A) is actually brighter then the rest. Ive never seen this happen before. I emailed DR and I havent heard back yet?? Anyone else have this kinda thing happen to them??? Do I have a misplaced string? Sitting around playing at home I didnt notice a difference in sound. But once I turn it up at rehearsal I could tell a difference in sound with the 3rd string. Seemed brighter...yet quieter. Any thoughts???

Looking at the pic, the difference is rather drastic. The A almost looks like nickel-plated steel, which is generally lighter in color and shinier than stainless steel. Maybe a Sunbeam mixed in with the Fats somehow?

I happen to have a brand new set of FBs in my personal stock so I just quickly checked to see how they look...

They all look the same to me.

This just happened to me. 2 of the 5 strings in a set of Fatbeams are darker grey and the other three lighter. But, I gotta say, they all sound uniform like a consistent set, and feel the same. It’s probably different batches of steel being used to make the same string. That’s all I can gather from this.

I had this with my Sunbeams, not sure where you got yours form, I got my from Amazon and while I don't mind, the set also mixed up the A and D... I saw it thankfully and but wrote Amazon and they assure me it was new. Also same pack with a darker E string as well, I think from now on for me personally I'm just going buy strings direct from the source or at my local shop to help them out. I also hear no difference between them but you know I may spend the last of my amazon gift card and test it out as well...!

I got mine from JustStrings. I can tell the package was not tampered with and that it was packaged at DR. They are really good with quality issues, so again I think they are a consistent set but with two batches of steel used across strings. But idk for sure. If the lighter ones were hi beams or something, I would hear the difference.
