Just put a set of these on one of my J basses. Wow!! Lots of punchy mids. Great strings!! I've been partial to Cobalt flats in the past. Def loving these.

It's good to have some praise for these. Lots of people seem to not like these very much. They can't be terrible it's just not exactly what some people look for in a flatwound.
They sound amazing on this bass. Maybe on another bass not so much. I guess I just got lucky. Lol
OP enjoy the fresh DR legend on Jazz bass , but will transform to blanket tone once she settle in ....
Legend always great match with P bass or, neck pup solo.
Honestly, i cant imaging how she sound on Stingray.

I tried a set about 5 years ago and liked them. They reminded me of Labella…but I recently tried them again and it seems maybe they changed? They almost felt coated…it was weird.
To me, the Legend flats bass strings start nice, but over time, instead of mellowing, they just get darker, and darker, and darker, and.... How the bass strings do that when the Legend flats guitar strings are so great I'll never know. Over on the guitar forums, I post about using the Legend Flats guitar strings as the closest to the old Selmer and Gibson Sonomatic flats when I want that tone. But not the bass strings.
I like them too. I'm often baffled by the reviews I read about them. My theory is that they changed something about these strings over the years, perhaps more than once. It's the only way I can explain the reviews.
I had a set of 45-125 Legends on an active 5 for a year or so. I love the feel and the sound and I'll put them on again when I want the flatwound sound.
Ive had a medium scale set on my 74 mustang for the last 2.5 years and they still sound and play great!
These still sound really good. They have been played a lot.
I think the degree of polish on them has been decreased. Years ago one couldn’t see the ribbons at all, looked like a solid tube!
Just tried them for the 1st time (on a Jazz). They sound great.

I pulled out the J bass with these strings after not playing it for a month or so and they were completely dead. No volume or tone or anything. It was like they were muted. Nothing but dull lifeless thud. Lol. I checked everything. Checked the neck. Loostened the strings and made sure the wraps were tight. Tuned back up. Even raised the action a tad just to make sure.
I pulled them off and installed the Cobalt rounds that were on it. They sounded great. I've never had strings just die like that.

I just installed a set on my SBMM Ray5. So far I don’t love them but I’m going to give them some time. I started a thread to record my thoughts.
