DR Pure Blues Bass Strings...

Hey everyone! So I've been a long time user of DR Strings. Specifically Lo-Riders and High Beams. I tried these new Pure Blues strings and I've been really enjoying them!

They sound great! They feel great with plenty of bite, they're flexible but not flimsy, bright but not harsh and have plenty of body and fullness to them. I believe they will be available with a choice of .120, .125 or .130 on the B... I will be going for the .130

Definitely pick a set up and take them for a spin! I'm really really digging them and know you will too...

Thank you for the input! Do you have experience with nickel LoRiders? I'm wondering how the outer wrap feel and low-end of the Pure Blues compares to them.

My experience with Lo-Riders has been with the steels... Being a "steels" guy, I'm really enjoying he feel of these... A lot! Hope this helps!!!

I'm interested from a purely metallurgical standpoint. Not alloy 52, not cobalt, not pure nickel. Apparently a material that's never been used for bass strings before. I wonder what it is.

Maybe it's a tungsten alloy...but doubtful. Maybe a high nickel alloy like and 825.

If the "politics" are government politics, then it has to have content listed in the Dodd-Frank act.

There are seriously too many new strings to try! I still haven't tried the Dunlop SuperBrights, now these... I did try the GHS Round Core Boomers, they are very nice similar to Sunbeams but a little more punch in the low-end, maybe a tad more fundamental and less overtones. What I would really love to see is DR come out with a string that is their version of a Pressurewound, I don't mean tight fit, I mean where the outer wire is actually flattened a little bit by rollers. (And I don't mean ground wounds either, they always feel too sticky to me.) But I am very interested in these new strings...we shall see!

Don't you go get my hopes up like that. :atoz:

Anyway, I don't think they would call them "quantum nickel" if they were tungsten, but you never know.

I can't see 4 alloys of nickel being used. I'm guessing that it's referring to 4% nickel content, 40% nickel content or a blend of 4 metals with nickel being the majority percentage.

Tempting to get a set when they come out and put a piece on the OES in the lab to analyze it.

When these become available, I will grab a set for my USACG P5 and will make some raw recordings and post some feedback.

My ideal string would be one that ages with grace- keeps its character and ability to intonate for a long time after settling in. Since I am not a fan of clankengankey bass tone, I am expecting to roll off the treble for these.
