DR Pure Blues Bass Strings...

Thanks for offering to do another- I'm looking forward to hearing more! It was very useful to hear a variety of techniques, and each string seemed to have a different mid-emphasis. Do the strings respond/feel differently under the fingers/thumb? Do the Pure Blues feel similar to Sunbeams in terms of flexibility?

I like something about each of DR's string types, but I'm still searching for something different for one of my basses.
I would also like to know how they compare to Sunbeams in terms of feel. But another string that I haven't tried yet that has caught my attention is Dunlop SuperBrights. Can anyone give us a comparison?

Yes, they are similar to Sunbeams in terms of feel, but actually feel more flexible and not as stiff. I loved the feel of the Pure Blues more than the Sunbeams and Hibeams for sure. Having used the Hibeams for so many years, I'm a big fan that bright sound. The Pure Blues are great because they offer more brightness than the Sunbeams and a better feel than the Hibeams.

So other manufacturers don't rush to their metallurgy labs and start synthesizing quantum nickel?

I just feel I have the right to know what I'm paying for. Speaking only for myself, I want to know how much nickel is in the alloy; it makes a difference to me if it's 25% or 99%; I'd like to know hard/soft the alloy is. But all we get is "Quantum Nickel."

I'd like to know out of curiousity, but I'm not sure we have a "right" to know. If they don't want to tell anyone they don't have to and no one has to buy them if they don't want to.

Got mine at local GC tonight, they were priced at $29.99. I'm a Hi Beam guy but I gotta say they're pretty sweet. Hi Beam like low tension and great flexibility but deeper fundamental and some nice smooth highs as well as slightly stronger mids. I'm impressed!

Thanks for posting. This describes the string I want for my P5. What instrument did you put this set on?

I agree with Rodger as well; thanks for posting. I've yet to find a nickel set I've loved and as a longtime DR user (20 years now I think) I usually bounce between Hi-Beams, Fat Beams, and Lo-riders. I'm just finishing at 7 month round with lo-riders and dropped an order for a .40-.100 +.130B from BSO. I'll report back once I've got them strung up.

A "right" to know? The only right here, is the companies right to not disclose anything they don't want to or are legally obligated to disclose.:***:

I put them on Sadowsky RV4. As mentioned I have been a Hi Beam guy for this bass but I always wanted a little fuller low end and just slightly more string tension. Fat beams were just a little too much tension but I think these might be exactly what I was looking for.
