DR Pure Blues Bass Strings...

I've been loving these strings on my 65 pbass. The feel is perfect .
They're responsive and if you hit em hard with fingers or a pick they sound punchy and tough and don't flab out. The break in time is short and they last , a long sweet spot (my experience with dr strings in general).
I've also been digging them on my MM 5. They sound substantial, hefty!
Thank You DR strings!

Been reading through to see how others have responded to these strings as I just picked up a set for my 2014 SG special.

Initial thoughts once strung up was how nice the tension felt - slightly tighter than I anticipated, which was a welcome improvement over the old stock strings I had on there. Great finger feel too!

Once plugged in, really impressed at the mid range burp I'm getting from favoring the bridge pup. Nice zing on top but just right in those mids. Unfortunately, with the neck pup solo'd, I'm losing a lot of clarity in the low end. Like these strings are emphasizing the "mudbucker" tone in a way I'm not overly pleased with, especially with the improved neck pup on the newer SG models.

Gonna mess around with some EQ to see how I can improve the neck pup sound, but really I'm pretty happy wih the tone I'm getting from the bridge pup, which I tend to favor anyway. Nice!

I installed the Pure Blues 40-100 on my amazing Zon Legacy Elite Fretless and I literally couldn't stop playing.
The strings just feel and sound amazing. The strings are made from Quantum-Nickel but have the Punch of a stainless steel string,
they retain the nickel strings qualities, warmth and depth.
I strongly recommend the Pure Blues for who ever seeking those qualities.

Just ordered a set of these, 40-100, for my Suhr jazz, to replace a set of D'Addario Flex Steels that just aren't working out (but refuse to die!). The bass was strung with D'Addario nickels when I got it (and sounded great), but I went with the lighter gauge Flex Steels because I wanted less string tension. I love the Flex Steels on my Tobias, but they sound a little too brittle on my Suhr. I was getting ready to try a set of Sunbeams when I noticed the Pure Blue. Looking forward to trying them out.

Well folks I have never been a huge DR fan, however I think they hit a home run with these! I just did a comparison with Pure Blues vs Hi Beams vs a few others string sets and I must say these strings sound fuller than Hi Beams, but are still very bright! Also because of the round core and lower tension they are absolutely fantastic on a 35" scale bass! Finally a string with the smooth feel of nickel but with the punch and brightness of stainless steel! Great job DR!!!

I got sent a Moollon bass and was not sure the strings. So in a cool way I was able to review them without any product knowledge, and was just told what they were today.

They felt like DR to me but maybe a little less smooth than the Sunbeams I am used to. They kind of reminded me of Elixirs. The tone is rather zingy compared to the Sunbeams. Tension is real nice and low - how I prefer it. I thought these may be steels and not nickels because they really are bright.

I can not turn my tone knob all the way up. It's a zing factory. Really awesome for using a pick and a drive pedal like my Pork Loin though.

I have Foderas I am putting on next and I think those are more up my alley. I don't like a ton of highs on my nickels and prefer some midrange, which is why I like Sunbeams.

Low end is a little weird. Not as defined as I'd prefer. It's like these strings are naturally scooped a little bit.

These strings are really good, but I prefer Sunbeams over the Pure Blues.

Got a set on one of my sadowskys and while they sound a bit fuller and scooped than sunbeams I still prefer the sunbeams. Maybe I just need to give them few more weeks but I bet these would sound great on a passive jazz or p
