DRBASS Cab

Hey fellow TB'ers, Today I ordered a 2x12 cab from DR Bass. It will have the new neo speakers, 600watts @ 4ohms, and a custom color baffle board. The only problem is I have to wait 3 to 4 weeks for them to build it. Man the wait is gonna drive me crazy:bawl: :bawl: I was wondering if anybody out there in TB land has had any experience with these cabs, and what their opinions are on the DR.BASS company and their products. Thanks Roger Winkler:hyper: :hyper:

I've got an RX212 and I love it. Great sound, great price! It's a very small shop, so it can take some time to get the cabs and some folks have had shipping issues, but I haven't experienced those. Marc is a great guy to deal with.

Just as an aside, as my cab was being built, he was really between production runs and was contemplating a different porting configuration. So, as my cab was in the queue, he decided to just go ahead and start the new config with my cab! Plus, he had gotten shipped some dodgy crossovers and so hand-wired one for me, plus I think I got an upgraded compression horn. The cab got here a little later than expected, but I'm a happy customer!

I have a 212 cabinet from Marc. Mine took 9+ weeks, so consider yourself lucky if you get yours in 3-4 weeks. The cabinet sounds great. I have the upgrade to 1000 watts at 4 ohms. The thing will move your bowels when you crank it.

The only knock I've heard on Dr. Bass cabs is the long lead time. If his output has improved to a reasonable 3-4 weeks (legitimate, not promised), then you can't go wrong.

I have two of his cabs on order. Marc has been great to deal with and very up-front and honest concerning the build time. He's making a great quality product. My cabs will both be 3 way designs that include a main driver, a 6" mid driver and a Selenium tweeter. One will have a 700w 15" and the other will have a 400w 12" as the main driver.
I had Beyma speakers ordered for the main drivers. Even with the upgraded speakers, these cabs still cost less than most, are built as well or better than any I've owned (SWR, Aguilar, Acme, EA, etc.), and sound fantastic.
I'm going to put up a review when they arrive hopefully late next week.

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on an Rx212 w/3U airhead and tilt-back casters:hyper: and an Rx115. Get ready for the Legion of BOOM!

Right now I can only speak of their customer service. Marc has been very resourceful in helping me choose the right cab(s) for me. Great experience, so far.

I'll be posting my first impressions soon (as soon as I order it, they make it, and I receive it, which could be a while).

~Cheers

Yes, the wait is torture since you hear so much about them but you can't get your hands on them very quickly. I first contacted him to place an order in early February and just got my cabinets about two weeks ago.

My original order was for a BL1260 and I was told about delivery would be in 3-4 weeks. After about six weeks I found a deal on an head and based on that I called him to change my order - to a pair of Rx 112's with the new Neos. I was never sure if the original BL1260 I ordered was anywhere near being ready to ship after all that time. I made that change in late March and my cabients finally arrived in late May. But like vicenzajay, I got caught on the delay from Eminence on that revised order.

I talked to Marc a few times about how a little feedback to customers would go a long way. To his credit, he was always very willing to talk when I called. However it always kind of bothered me that I had to take the initiative and make the call myself. I would have been very impressed if he made a quick call or shot me an email when a delay occurred.

Hopefully his new facility will fix some of those delay issues. He's in the process of moving to a larger one that will not only give him more room for production but also give him the space to keep an inventory of stock cabients. According to what he told me his goal was to be able to turnaround standard orders in 72 hours. God bless him, I hope that works. He's a pretty good guy and he makes some really nice cabinets. Mine sound fantastic.

I always like talking to Marc - nice guy. However, I would appreciate a heads up when the "next" delay becomes a reality. I can understand if he's not going to get it to me - I (uniquely for now) am not in a hurry. It would be very professional, imo, if they would just keep me in the loop without me having to call to find out what's up.
