drill holes?

i'm getting a new bass pretty soon,
so i want to mod my peavy milestone (jazz style bass) in sunburst
i want to install a pick up cover and a bridge tailpeice a la vintage fender
would i have to drill and what would be the best way to drill?

Tape over the place where you're going to drill with some blue masking tape. Drill slowly and straight down. Not too deep.

That's about it.

You could use some two sided carpet tape to hold on the guard instead of drilling into the body.

That'd hold it there nicely, and you could always go back if you didn't like the look, or wanted to sell.
