Drop C on a 5 string bass

As my bandmate tends to play super fast riffs on his guitar in drop c, I want to tune my bass in a similar way, in order to keep up with his speed.
Right now, I use the B-E-A-D-G tuning (Elixir strings) and I want to try either C-G-C-F-Bb or A-C-G-C-F.

What kind of strings should I use?

My man… good on ya for wanting to keep it simple and mirror the same tuning for major riffage. A lot of people hear are gonna tell you to “just play it in standard” never being in a riff oriented metal band.

My suggestion would be to try some lighter gauge D’Addario 6 string sets or even put together a set of singles using say .120 .95 .75 .50 .35 and just tune everything up a half step.
