Drummer hated my bass...

Sounds like you guys need a new drummer. Drama like that kills a band. He sounds like your typical gear snob who thinks that it has to be made in the USA. Well I've owned my fair share of MIM, MIA, and Squier bass and my favorite bass is my beloved Squier Classic Vibe P Bass. I guess he wouldn't like my tone either?

I am in my first band at 54 years old. I have two bass's that I use one is an '89 Peavey Foundation & the other is a'95 Peavey Fury. Both are white & I will not part with them, unless it becomes to cost effective to keep them playing. Remember that 95% of an audience can't tell what type of gear you use but, 99% of an audience can tell if you are out of tune or playing the wrong notes

I turn my back, facing my amp, and make zero changes. "A bit less... a bit less... that's it! Perfect!"

I keep a big chrome Squier logo for situations like this. Just tape that sucker to whatever is causing offense at the time, and all problems disappear! It's all about the chrome logo. And, anybody who complains about me playing any Thunderbird will have to keep complaining because that's what I play these days unless I'm playing the upright. Even fretless. Got that covered with a Thunderbird, too. So far, nobody has had an issue.

Oh, and if you look, you can probably find a Squier logo for his drum kit, too.

(I have also been known to play drums, too. My kit is either a Chinese made Ludwig or an old Pearl stencil kit made in Taiwan. Maybe someday I'll have a US made Ludwig or Gretsch kit, but it's going to be a long time.)

No go ahead. Like I said I am in my first band at 54. Its fun because I suck at bass but, the guys know that I suck and still tolerate me. Plus I want to find out what its like to go through all the ups and downs of being in a band that I missed in my 20's & 30's

I tried out or my current gig and was asked by phone before I even arrived what bass I played. I guess...luckily I had one bass, a 1976 Jazz bass and that seemed to be enough to allow me into the audition. The BL said he tuned down someone who had a 5 string. (This is for a 60's cover band).

Love then band i'm in but people need to have more tolerance.

Seriously I got so sick of every drummer I was in a band with acting like a baby about such things as having to use another bands kit at a gig without "tuning them" or trying to control everything that I went solo. Recorded bass lines on a Boss 8-track, programmed a rudimentary drum pattern on its built in drum machine, and went out with an Epiphone SG.

I did quite well too.

i have loved and appreciated many drummers over the years. one (he's gone now, bless his heart) was my best friend in life. but any fantasy i've ever had about reducing a fellow human to ashes = drummers!

I did quite well too.

Yep!....I'm solo and have a ball playing along (badly) with all the greats via my aux in.....

No fights....no guitar players shagging the drummer's girlfriend....No drama at all....
