You stated that everyone made less money because the drummer drank too much and had to pay a bar tab. I'm not sure how I read anything into that that wasn't there.

I couldn't care less that you accept drinks from customers. Plenty of bands think it's worth playing for free beer. I don't, and I never have in 20+ years of gigging.

You made the assumption that I play for drinks instead of pay, which I've never even considered and likewise, I couldn't care less that you think it's worth playing for free beer.

You need to actually read the posts you're replying to because every time you've gotten it wrong. Go get some sleep and read though the posts again tomorrow. Ironic that you're telling me I'm putting words in your mouth when that's what you've done with every reply to mine that you've made so far.

You assumed that I was talking about you personally playing for beer. I never said or thought that. I did say bands shouldn't do that, but you assumed I was talking to you directly.

I simply stated that your drummer should have paid his own tab in response to your original post. You started the assumptions from there and then assumed everything I said was directed at you personally.

I have nothing further to say.

Well, I agree that $50 bucks isn't a large sum of money. However, with a valid contract there's body parts I would break over even $1. It has nothing to do with the money, but everything to do with integrity and common decency. If they were to even tell me a story (before payment) about how broke they are, dog died, kids have shoes with holes in them, blah blah, even that could potentially sway me into taking less money, because I really do play because I enjoy it. Any issue though, regardless of how serious or insignificant brought up after payment was issued though, is something I wouldn't tolerate.

If you bring it up, you risk not getting more gigs from them, or recommendations. If you don't, they know they can go back on an agreement with you. Which situation do you prefer?

Since these are guys you know, hold your tongue till the next sit in invitation, should that ever happen, then make it clear you expect to be paid as agreed.
