I don't know if anyone has published about this before but this unit seems really well designed.

Fully analogue Bass Preamp based on the Ampeg SVT with Gain, Level, and a 3-Band EQ with Semi-Parametric Mid control, Parallel Signal Routing with a selectable LPF, Dual FX Loop (for Preamp and Parallel Signal), and an Analog Cabinet Simulation with 3 voicings: 8 x 10", 1 x 15" & 4 x 10" with Microphone Position- and Resonance-Controls; Controls: Gain, Volume, Preamp Blend, Bass, Mid, High, Mic Position, Resonance, Cabsim Blend, Phones Level; Push Buttons: ; Switches: Mid Freq: 900/400/1500 Hz, Parallel LPF: 100/Off/500 Hz, Cab Size: 4 x 10"/8 x 10"/1 x 15", Speaker Color: Bright/Modern/Warm, Parallel Phase, Ground Lift; LED: On; Display: ; Connections: Input (1/4" Jack),Thru/Out (1/4" Jack), DI Parallel (XLR), DI Out (XLR), Preamp FX Send & Return (2 x 1/4" Jack), Parallel FX Send & Return (2 x 1/4" Jack), Aux in (1/8" TRS-Jack), Phones (1/8" TRS-Jack); Power Supply connector: Barrel Connector 5.5 x 2.1 mm, center negative; Current Draw: 80 mA; powered by a 9 V DC Power Supply (not included).

I have bought one recently. The improvement on passive basses is amazing! But it seems to take the life out of my active basses. I'm also disappointed with how weak the signal on the effects loop is. It has made my envelope filter unusable. In short the cab sim and SVT like pre is great as long as you're running passive basses and have effects pedals that are ok with a really weak signal.

Bought it, tried-out, returned.

The durability of this product is worrisome: with all of the toggles and generally small size of the unit, part of which a magnifying glass is needed to interpret, the unit is a problem waiting to happen.

I am unsure as to why DSMNoisemaker would partner and produce something like the BASS SIMPLIFIER. The OmniCabsim Deluxe looks like such a better product to incorporate on a pedalboard. The BASS SIMPLIFIER comes to us towards the end of a pandemic, when folks are itching to get away from their digital workstations and back out to the gigs.

When it comes to workable, decent tones, discounting the forgettable, semi-pointless preamp side of the product, there is one or two usable tones - if you enjoy the SVT phat-ness. However, if the SVT is not your bag, don't waste your time. Truly disappointing that DSMNoisemaker will not be making the OmniCabsim Deluxe again.

Heh, that’s funny. The pre-amp side is why I’m keeping it. I can dial in just the right amount of SVT pre-amp grit and the tone controls are fantastic. However the cab sim clips easily and badly so it’s safer for me not to use it. Don’t get me started on the effects loop. But it is still on my board and will continue to stay there.

I just use it as a handy headphone amp/DI in a pinch….I like the headphone-out in that it’s rather powerful for a small unit.

I tend not to really use the cab sims, loops and EQ much at all, so am really underutilising mine. I find it difficult to see where the small knobs for the EQ are set with my ageing eyes, especially in dim light.

Okay so I was thinking of buying this as my main pre and cab sim, would you recommend me to find something else instead?
I want some grit, sim, eq...

Tell me more about the quality of this enclosure, please? Did anything break on you or did it just feel flimsy?

Yes - incredibly small, tough to see the settings!

Hi, I am concerned about using this unit as "main" gear. It appears the BASS SIMPLIFIER was designed for the stay-at-home musician and sitting at the desk with a DAW in front of you.

For gigs, I don't trust it. And, while nothing broke while I had it, I felt as if it would break in my hands if I held it the wrong way. When I called shops about the other DSMNoisemaker units to compare or exchange the item, they told me the BASS SIMPLIFIER was definitely wrongfully marketed as anything but a stay-at-home unit; it doesn't belong on a pedalboard.

Currently, I use a prototype tube D.I. from Andy Fuchs that goes into a power amp and Aguilar cabs for live gigs. However, I am looking for an analog cab sim for church. I just got a Omni clone (from Caleb's Clones) through a seller on Reverb, and it's okay. But, I'd still like to get either a used OmniCabsim Deluxe, since there won't be any more new ones, or OmniCabsim MINI. I have been told the MINI will be available in a few weeks...

If you're looking for small, main, with some dirt, go for the Geddy pedal from Sansamp.

I just ordered one the newer DLX version for 84 bucks at AliExpress and free shipping.For that price if it only does a couple of functions well it'll be worth it.

Yeah, I have a slew of authentic preamps,cab sims and D.Is. so this was a total curiosity buy.I was never going to buy the original cause it's redundant with what I have.I saw same fake on eBay for $165 + shipping, so you know someone is buying them off AliExpress and trying to make a quick buck.I went on Reddit and there's a post from a guy that has the authentic and bought the clone also out of curiosity and took pictures of the guts and the fake looked damn close.I really want to see for myself.

If you're not afraid of going digital, you might want to look at the Torpedo C.A.B. M+
It does give you tube power amp simulation as well as cab sims (IR files can be added), and IIRC, there is a headphone out, too.
It is a cool pedal to have last in chain to add what's missing. I recommend using it with a preamp, though.

You know, it works better for me if the whole thing is physical and disconnected from any power outlets. Thanks tho!
