DSM & Humboldt Simplifier Bass Amp/Cab Sim

Wow - such wildly different takes on this pedal. I just picked up one of these this weekend as a birthday gift to myself. I LOVE this thing - the preamp sounds fantastic! Very Ampeg sounding - it's got great cleans and also gets the traditional growly grit of the Ampeg tone. Very powerful preamp section with the +/- 15db range. The cabsim is immensely tweakable - now I under why the love around here for the OmniCab stuff. I've done some test recordings with it and I get better sounding results with the Simplifier than I do when mic'ing up my cab with my Beta 52a and a blending in a clean DI sound. To have it all in a typical Boss-sized pedal form is amazing. The real power is the endless routing possibilities of the dual Parallel/Preamp FX loops, Blend and dual DI outs. This one is a rock solid keeper in my book. Highly recommended!

Hey everyone, I bought the DSM & HUMBOLDT bass station from Thomann in late January, primarily for the Low Pass Filter, cab sim and DI options to use with my Japanese Fender Marcus. It worked great for a few weeks and then 3 weeks ago I started getting a huge amount of ground loop hum whenever I touched the strings on my bass. (My tech has revised the bass and said that it's in the clear, and I don't have this issue going direct with my Focusrite 4i4, so that's cool.) I've reached out to DSM & Humbolt Electronics but haven't received an answer yet. Thomann has responded but I'm too late to send it back for a refund; they've offered to take a look at it, but I'm assuming that means my footing the shipping bill.

Anyway, it was great while it lasted. Hopefully, I'll be able to solve the problem and keep using it. I've got some video samples of me using it on my Instagram, bassednbarcelona, and I can still use the LPF successfully, because it cuts out all the hum. I can't use it without it, though, because of all the extra noise.

Do you get the hum when going direct into the Focusrite? Have you determined it’s the BASS SIMPLIFIER and not something else in the chain?

Pretty much so. I got the ground hum plugging straight into the pedal, nothing else plugged in or turned on. This didn't happen before, but it started a few weeks after getting it. I sent it back to Thomann.

Some have said it could be my electrical installation at home, but this is something that I've never experienced before, only with this pedal, and it just started all of a sudden.

Great piece of kit. Nothing but great things to say about it. The fx loop, pre amp, low pass filter and multiple lxr outs it just outstanding!

Picked this up today, running the preamp out to the RME babyface pro FS connected to an iPAD pro. This little thing is incredible. The sounds you can create

I am still trying to figure out using the DI into the RME, for some reason the volume is painfully low, but I do not understand DI, so not sure what's happening there.
