Dual bass bands

Tortise uses two basses off and on. There is a band band called 'UI' which does some interesting counter bass riffs with loopy grooves. Also, Cat Hope, an Australian composer/bass noise drone musician... she works with low drones with up to 3 to 4 basses. I did a gig with her and it was like Godzilla was breathing!
Best Prime Time gig I ever saw was with Jamaaladeen and Charlie. That was in the days that Charlie was really into to Whale songs. His solo spot brought tears to my eyes, Jamaaledeen went right after and while his solo didn't have the emotional content it certainly stood up.
Aussie band Pre Shrunk are a 2 bass outfit that rock.
There's also another aussie pub act that is 3 bassists and a drummer iirc (was pretty smashed when is saw them!)

I was the leader in a group with three bass players and a drummer called Bassed on Jazz. There was a URB player, a six-string/five-string piccolo and I played six-string bass. We did bop jazz with some odd-time signature tunes such as playing All Blues in five and Killer Joe in seven swinging the bridge in four. It was a fun band until I got too busy to book it. It could still happen with a little notice and a rehearsal to familiarize ourselves with the roles we would play throughout a tune. There would be times were one could play all of the roles before a tune was over, comping, soloing, playing a melody or the bass line.

There's a local band that had a drummer and two bassists in - one using a 6 string or a BEGC 4, and the other mostly a regular 4.
It's not all my cup of tea, but they're great fun to see live.

I have a burnt cd from an old friend with two bands......Ain Matter and Sephalic Carnage who both use two bassists. I recomend Ain Matter....the one bassists uses his almost like a guitar and gets some really amazing sounds from it. He's also got talent.
Todd Johnson and Kristin Korb. Todd laying comping lines on his 6 string bass and providing the solo guitar stuff with Kristin providing providing really fabulous upright bass lines and singing jazz standards. Well worth checking out.
I just picked up the Nuggets II compilation from Rhino the other day. An excellent collection of fine mid-to-late sixties rock/mod/r&b/psychedelia from around the world (minus US, which is featured on vol. 1). There's a band on there from Scotland called The Marmalade (originally called The Gaylords, heh) that regular employed 4 & 6 string bass. The track from them is from 1967. I'm surprised nobody brought up that youtube video of the group with four bassists. It's very funny. I can't find it now. I thought they were called Bassmasters.
