Dual Cut five string fretless

Scotty - this is just amazingly gorgeous - no chance in making it a 6 (:D)

Still have my neck-thru you designed for me on file - just can't get enough $$$ together. Picked up a KSD thinkin' it would work since it was available immediately, but turned out to be a 35 rather than a 34 (and the body is a bit large for my liking). If it sells (since I'm not playing a whole lot anymore), might be able to satisfy your jonesin' to build a neck-thru...

I've got the neck shaping started, fingerboard glued on, headstock/scarf done, top coated in CA ect. The neck is very colorful to say the least:D

Overall I think the body shape turned out nice!:hyper:

I've decided to use a single stacked humbucker and a piezo bridge for this bass.:D

looking great. loving that fingerboard! the grain is really wild (reminds me of the Mac on my fretless! in terms of wavy-ness) and I really like the end of the fingerboard too. I'm just not too keen on the top... (sorry guys not a huge Spalt fan that's all)

What?? you dont like the TONE knot?:p

I perceive an entirely new line of marketing coming... it started with Mid-Hump®, progressed to Tranny Block™, and now we shall have the Tone Knot®™(pat. pending)*... if you don't have one, you don't have TONE!

*(not to be confused with the Tone NOT, which sucks all the tone out of a bass).

Just wonder what would be the effect to the Mid-Hump® of a Tone Knot®™ right in the Tranny Block™ :p

THIS is what SCRAPS look like????!!!!

HOLY SMOKES!

Please go with the flow! I insist...keep going!!!!!:D:D:D

All but the top, I got it pretty cheap though:p
Very nice Scotty! You are making fine use of that padauk.

Please don't tell me you found the top at The Depot as well....

Thanks Erik, the top came off ebay

A little bit of progress on this one. I've got the neck shaped and set with a curly rock maple tranny/heel. The carving is started, finger board radius to 7" (tired forearms!)
While routing the neck pocket I got some terrible tear out on the top (spalt will do that:scowl:) which forced me to set the neck off of center slightly. Any other time this would be pretty dang devastating to me but its ok being that this is a prototype. Another lesson learned!:D

I've decided on a stacked humbucker in the neck position and a piezo bridge. David from Audere is hooking me up with a modified Audere Classic that will buffer and mix the piezo with the stacked bucker. I bought one of those eBay piezo bridges everyone keeps asking about. Its very solid built, has a nice adjustment range, and is solid brass, well worth the money so far. We'll have to wait to see how it sounds!;)
