Dual Rail pickups

I have rail pickups on the Hagstrom HB-4 that I recently bought. According to reviews, they're tappable Alnico-V humbuckers. See: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

They seem to be a pretty hi-fidelity pickup, but the bass has a six-position EQ switch (passive) which varies both the pickups settings and allows not only bridge and neck pickup selection, but also single and double-coil variations.

Rail pickups are nice, but IMO frankly they're not any better or worse than any other pickups. I'd probably use them by preference if I had a string spacing problem on a bass and needed a rail pickup to assure good performance.

Mine also has an EQ selector knob, so I know what you mean. It's nice to have those tone options but for the most part I leave it in the front/middle position. However, I agree with your statement that it's not a huge difference between these pickups and any other pickup. But it is a nice way to set your bass apart from most others.
