This is one of the first years of P-Basses. As somebody put it to me, "This *would* be a really nice old bass, if somebody hadn't..."
What somebody did is:
*sanded off the paint
*made it fretless
*reshaped the body so it looks like either Prince's guitar or Les Claypool's bass (not clear which one they were going for...)
I've had it for over a decade, somehow. When I was in highschool I thought the best way to cover up the naked wood was to spraypaint and sticker the thing up.
So: it is playable, but I think it needs either the neck straightened or a new rod. Also, the electronics are functional, but quite scratchy.
As it stands, this is a neat conversation piece (esp. if the conversation is about eyesores made out of nice vintage instruments), and could easily/inexpensively be a fully-functional bass.
And, as I said, I've never seen anything like it.
I want to get rid of this thing, so no offer will go unconsidered!
