Has anyone tried these? I just purchased a set & I'm still debating the likes or dislikes to the DR's MM strings. Would love to hear some input.

Dunlop Marcus Miller Strings

The Fat Beams live on my 5string bass. You already know what they're like - low tension, deep fundamental and nice crisp highs.
I had the MM Dunlops on the Rick and I must say I liked them better than the regular Dunlop Super Brights that are on now. Again, more fundamental (than the reg Super Brights), crisp highs but they are a rougher string (think Rotos) and higher tension than the Fats.

I absolutely love the New Dunlop Marcus Millers! Thats all I use these days.
Does anyone know if the 5 string set will work on a 35" scale bass?
I have a Lakland 55-02 I want to try these on that is 35" and I like using the string thru body option.

I was about to post to say exactly this. Sound very similar to Fat Beams, but higher tension and rougher feel.
Recently, I replaced my Ernie Ball Cobalts with the Marcus Miller Superbrights for five string bass. My first reflection is how ruff these strings feel. They are not as smooth feeling as the Cobalts. They are so bright and edgy I had to turn down the treble on my Fender Jazz American Deluxe significantly. I am going to continue using them as they are very crisp and clear and sing in the low end. I just wish they felt smoother and the fret noise is a little annoying. My two cents...
Wow. I have not tried the Marcus strings but I know they are quite different than the regular SuperBrights. If they are rougher than Cobalts they must be ROUGH! Cobalts feel like a chainsaw to me!
I am going to reserve my negative review until I have more playing time on these Marcus Miller strings. I really want to like these strings. As for the Cobalts, they felt smooth to me...these Marcus Miller strings really have an edge to them. I guess they were designed to really cut through the mix. For gospel and jazz music you need to turn down the treble or you will get plenty of fret noise when you play. Otherwise, these string can really rumble with clarity. I just prefer the Cobalt feel.
Update to a year ago: Mostly due to price but also how much I like these strings, I put the MM Dunlop Super Brights on my 5r and I'm a happy man. Like the Fat Beams, they have a really robust mid with nice highs. If you can get past the rougher feel and higher tension and can accept a lower price (than Fat Beams) these may be your strings!
I have to agree...the strings did sound very good. No complaints there. I just need to get used to the rougher feel as you have said. The Ernie Ball Cobalts just feel so much better to me...an all around better set of strings imho.
I agree. Been using Cobalts the last year.
As a long time nickel lover, I was surprised at how smooth these MM strings became after a day of playing. I HATE steel strings, but these are different. The fundamental is really something else, I think because there is a lack of harmonic peaks in the 350-550 range that often cloud it with most nickel strings.
