And to be fair, you really don't know 100% that they are even Dunlops. Buy a new net and try them again.

That should read 'buy a new SET'. Not net. But you can buy a new net too, if you want

I got a set of Dunlop nickels too after reading all the rave reviews here.
they went on my pre-EB Stingray which is a very picky lady when it comes to strings.

I almost decided to sell the bass untill I re-strung it with an old set of Rotosound 66 Nickels.
I admit Stingrays only work for me with Rotos and don't work at all with any other string set I've tried (one of my Rays sounds decent with DR Lo-Riders nickels but again, Rotos elevate Stingrays for me from zero to hero) but the Dunlops seemed to die very fast even though I barely played them and frankly they didn't blow my mind when new to begin with.

I've only enjoyed the Dunlops.

But everyone likes different kind of strings.
