Dunlop - Super Bright™ Nickle Bass Strings

I have spoken with the folks at Dunlop. New string sets of different gauges are being developed and will be available. I can pass this onto them if you like.

I used the nickel set last weekend. They are bright and have low tension but feel almost as rough as steels. I actually like the tone but if you have a heavy attack you will get a lot of buzz. I'm gonna try the Fodera Nickels next. The Dunlops SB nickels are good but not great strings IMO. I might give the SS SB strings another shot though.

Played a Gig last night with the Dunlop Super Bright Satinless Steels. My tone. finger style and slap was absolutely Killing!!!!

I'd like to know how they compare! Fodera strings are phenomenal. Some of the best I've used.

This phenomenon has to do with individual pH balances. I tried a set from BPL in November, and they kept their brightness until January. I get a day or two out of EB's with light use if I'm lucky. Another case in point: A former student of mine tried DR Hi-Beams and killed them in under a week, yet he swears by Hybrid Slinkies because they "last the longest."

If one looks on the box of the Super Brights they say that they were developed for Slap Bass Players. I play a lot of slap and these strings combine a great slap tone, feel, and price that is very competitive. They are my new string but in SS :-)

Just ordered a pack of the super bright nickel plated steels a couple days ago from BASSSTRINGSONLINE. Big fan of the DR Marcus Millers and the D'Adarrio Pro Steels at the moment. Have a set of Cleartone nickels and truly dislike them. Ill be gigging with the Dunlops this Sunday and see how they feel after rehearsal and a gig.

I've been checking out the super bright nickels and I'm glad I ordered them! There seems to be something a little more special than the steel ones (for me at least). I really do like the steel ones on my home built 5 string.

On my Jazz bass though, I like these nickels a lot!!! They have a very nice character for both finger style and especially slap n pop. I wonder how long they'll last. Dunlop has done right for me with these for sure!

I wasn't much of a fan boy with their last generation of strings.
