It’s a model of a GT120. More of a pre than a dirt pedal. It’s got a depth control for the bass being let through the circuit. It’s got a gain and a drive control. The gain behaves as you’d expect, and the drive adds a different feel and tone to the signal than the gain. I tend to prefer lower drive settings. Then there’s a two band (Bax, I assume) EQ. After is a boost, which is another flavor of drive/dirt.
The pedal is most like a low gain ODB. It is vintage warm and dark, in general. It gets a bit gritty, but it’s not a high-gain machine. In the past, it’s been suggested that it be used as a boost to push a driven tube amp into gnarled tones. It can be pretty subtle. Cranking the gain, drive, and/or boost controls will get it sounding decently distorted.
It probably won’t blow most folks away as a magic secret “new” sound. However, it is a very solid tool for tone shaping. I really enjoy using it. If you’ve got a bass that’s a bit bright or thin, it’s a good way to warm and thicken it up. I wouldn’t use it as a stand alone for modern heavy sounds. I’d consider it for vintage low to mid gain rock/doom sounds.
