Dunwich Amplification General Discussion

Here’s another setting I like… sounds a little super charged, with a little breakup. I’ll try this tomorrow night in a band setting; could be an everyday tone for the outside band.

I have a hard time imagining that I ever sell this one; it’s got so much under the hood with hella variety.

The gain and bass are a tad high for my taste, though my Mustang P puts out a lot of lows.

I rearranged my pedals today and tried running a few others into the Para. I kinda wish the original “clean” sounds that got scrapped in the design process had been kept. I’d like this as a clean pre. That said it’s functionally close enough for jazz. I’m finding that running my cab sim a bit darker than usual works well at taming some of the extra grit in the top, which makes it seem less distorted and more like “growly” clean instead.

The Parabellum has been working out in a live setting. After a few sessions of dialing things in with the band, I think I've settled on using it as a slightly dirty tube pre. The eq lends itself to the overall sound, so I found that I prefer the tone sweetening character from running it at no-to-low gain. Pronounced with mid presence and does its breakup thing when I dig in... I'm also liking the Parabellum > modelfeT's normal Channel when going direct or into the amp's fx Return

That looks like a familiar setting :)

This could be your box.

It definitely could ! Just received the Para and had a very short test run at low gain setting. Nails out of the box the pick tone i was looking for. Meaner, cuttier and combining this amazing Germanium's breakup & clarity with a powerful EQ. As a bonus it pairs pretty well with the (FFXL'd) EAE Halberd, which adds some pillowy content, and those two (three in fact w/ the FFXL) are best friends with my Broughton Archetype. Nice !

Hell yeah it worked ! Initially thought i'd use the Para as my low-gain cutting tone for a few songs, but ended using it as my always-on special sauce. Germanium low-gain breakup is a wonderful thing, sounds ace with my Stingray. Didn't quite found settings i liked with my boost pedals before (Solarian) or after (Edison), got to spend a little more time on it and/or check other options. Might have a try with it in the FFXL loop as well, had nice results using blend with hefty mids pedals. And the Para got mids ! Quite a unique pedal imo.

Experiencing shipping troubles with my Parabellum, though I don't have much time for music hardware currently anyway. Got the Bongzilla fuzz a few weeks back but I haven't even had time to test it. Focusing most of my musical minutes on production practice currently and don't see myself breaking out the pedalboard for a little while. Which is a shame, because I certainly miss the dirt.

Hope things won't go south. Received mine in France 2 days ago, which was shipped with the first pre-ordered ones. It takes a few extra time to cross boarders since covid and pervasive tax & customs fees application.

It's difficult when home-working not to noodle and test run some pedals with the Para. My fave one atm is Para -> Monocomp -> Super Stack. The Super Stack is great at taming mids from the Para, and adding some fatness. There's a bit of a 'saggier' feel which balances Para's tightness. Really nice. FFXLing the pedal is nice, and nicer with a jazz bass than a Stingray, but it kinda loses a part of its character this way imo.

Shipping troubles were swiftly resolved! My name was incorrect on the box (interestingly enough happened twice last week). They checked my ID but handed over the package without saying a word despite the mismatch. Haven't had the time/energy to try it yet (heck, I still haven't tried the Bongzilla fuzz...), starting to feel like a bit of a poser >_<
