Dunwich Amplification General Discussion

Could you please give me the run down on the switches for the ODB-3 clone? And what the Filter does?
it's basically a modified Fulltone OCD tuned for more low end, headroom and gain. the treble and Bass controls are a passive james tonestack and the mid control is an active bridged-T feedback control. one switch is a cut shelving filter for the first gain stage, and the other is 3 way clip switch selecting between assymmetric mosfet/Silicon, led and none clipping.

Ha! So does that mean the boss odb-3 and the full tone ocd share dna?

Is the MIDS switch changing where freq of the active mid control is? Is so, what are the values?
Is the "Bypass" switch the cut shelving for the filter you mentioned? From messing with it, the output is louder one way than the other.
What does the "Filter" control do? As I roll it from one side to the other I can't hear much of a difference.

The latter characteristic shows up if you search build forums. It’s subtle. Nick has mentioned doubling the cap value or something to lower the cutoff frequency. It’s a tone stack for the clean blend

i don't know what you mean by "filter' since there's no control labeled that.

isn’t this what @socialleper is asking about?

that's not an ODB that's a CTG.
I have to admit that this confuses me. Have you developed a taste for trolling? Are you okay? Am I missing something ridiculously obvious? Am I okay?

I'm not seeing a CTG with a bypass switch. Or a CTG with a filter knob. I do see an ODB with both those things, but you're saying either that the control doesn't exist or it's on the CTG.

:help:

Ha-ha, good morning, everybody's fine ... I hope.

I think there's a mash up of ODB, as in Olde Dirty Bass ... and ODB-3, as in Boss ODB-3, because @johnk_10 ansered @socialleper question about the Boss ODB-3 with a description of something Fulltone (the ODB). I might be mistaken as ususal though .... How the then CTG came into all this, who knows.

Anyway, the filter knob of the Boss thing is on the clean only and it is very subtle own it's own and barely noticable in the mix of the pedal. If you want to hear it, or try to hear it, turn the dirt down an listen to the clean signal only. I was the guy asking about this and yes, Nick mentioned doubling up a cap.

Switches, not toally sure, but:
Bypass switch is a (partial?) tone bypass, which makes it louder, yes.
Mids switch I don't recall, probably shifts mids within the 3-band tone control, but no idea about frequencies.

Thanks.

I don't know why my conversations with pedal builders always go sideways.

I was wondering if this was happening.
It doesn’t sound much like the Dunwich ODB to me. Maybe in that they took the clipping, and mids switch from the ODB? The flavor of the clipping definitely reminds me of the Boss ODB-3. I've only played with it a little, so I haven't nailed a tone I like. I mostly wanted to try it for the novelty of it.

since this is a dunwich thread, i assumed that the odb reference was an Olde Dirty Bass.
I don’t want to be argumentative. I am enjoying the CTG and ODB-3 clone I bought. I did say ODB-3.

I know why Nick chose the name OBD for his OCD clone. It is unfortunate that Boss already used those letters. Creates confusion.
