Dunwich Amplification General Discussion

Filter is a first order low pass filter on the clean blend signal in the ODB-3 DIY project. If its not a strong enough filter for the clean blend, double the cap value used in the first and it will be more apparent. The concept is to reduce the clack and string noise on the clean bass signal so it blends nicer with the overdriven signal.
 
So... I'm sending my VT125b to Magic to change my diodes to Germanium and Schottky.

I'm also thinking about possibly changing the cap values in this post:

@emjazz Did you prefer the OG or modified VT125b? I'm unable to find your final opinion on the matter.

Germ and Schot are pretty good. My germanium setting is low output compared to others. Curious if yours will be too.

Germanium by nature is lower output than silicone and most others as far as I know.

With hard or soft clipping and no gain compensation, Germanium will be the quietest. I'm pretty sure the Volt Thrower does gain compensation though, and I'd assume other Dunwich designs follow suite. The character of the distortion will affect how you perceive volume anyway.

IME with my big box VT, the volume change sure seems to go beyond a "perception" issue. I haven't measured the output, but I might be willing to bet there's more going on based on how much I have to adjust the output volume (editing - I'm not sure how much the actual difference mighty be, just that it is perceivable). It's extra noticeable since the Germ diode on mine is right before the Schot and None settings, which are indeed louder. I can't speak to the smaller boxes, as my modification was a custom requested modification to an exiting VT.

Reporting in just to say how much I love the Does It Doom Walpurgis Supergroup Tribute. Looks good and it sounds good!! It can even make my 15 watt Fender Rumble punch above its weight class and sound like a proper amp. Perfect gift to celebrate Sabbath's self titled anniversary. Thank you Nick and Steve it's a beast of a pedal.

I was quite surprised to find a different beast in the green one. The acid etched is, CW from left to right, treble, fuzz/volume, and bass. The green is volume, fuzz, and depth with an internal trim pot that gets from warm and wooly when fully CCW all the way to a gritty octave up effect when fully CW.

Love me some Dunwich!
