Dynacomp compressor: what does the SENSITIVITY control do?

Hi all,

Could someone please explain what the SENSITIVITY control of a Dynacomp compressor does?

I'm after a technical answer, i.e. "it sets the threshold" or "it sets the ratio" or "it sets the input gain against a fixed threshold" or "it sets the threshold AND the ratio", etc.

The user manuals are not a great help: they say "SENSITIVITY knob sets amount of compression" or "SENSITIVITY knob adjusts sustain time", which doesn't mean much from a technical point of view.

In addition, if the answer is "it sets the threshold", that would imply the Dynacomp has a fixed ratio, so a subsequent question is: "what is the value of that ratio?"

Thanks.
