E string without sustain.

Hello everybody! I've just bought Ibanez BTB 405QM with probably D'addario strings (I think that it should be with Elixir's but anyway) and after about week I've noticed that E string hasn't sustain, it sounds for about 1 sec. and dies (it's very attenuate) it's even worse when I play from 10th fret and above, it definitely has strange sound on 12th fret. I hope that isn't a construction problem, because action is high enough in every position I play. I think that B string sounds not right too, but a lot better. Thank you for any advice.

So, it looks like, even if bass was in the shop, sporadically used, strings lost their basic properties. Is the salesman shouldn't sell me guitar with the right ( not or a few times used) set of strings or perhaps I should request for replace those weak strings for a new ones? I'm curious, how those problems are solved in your countries?
Cheers!

we usually go to the local music store and buy new ones

guitars should be under warranty. That is what the reciept is for. Take it back to the shop and explain the problem and that you aren't happy. They should comply and fix I don't see anyway that they can't...;)
