EA Crackle

Over the last 2 weeks I have gotten a slight crackle followed by a loss in volume after about 15 to 20 min. of playing on my iAMP 350. I tried different cables and both the passive and active inputs. Has antone else experienced this? Any suggestions? I am hpoing it is my bass and not my amp as it would be easier to repair. Please help. Thanks in advance.:(

Hi Allen,

Sorry to hear about your issue. Hopefully Gary at EA can help in some way. It sounds like you have eliminated the cables as a problem from the signal chain. I doubt the battery in the bass, if it has one, is a problem but might be worth putting a new on in.

Are you experiencing this problem with every electrical circuit you use? One in my home is noisy and the others are good. I played a club this weekend which made my rig sound like a speaker was cracked on some low notes but the rig is clean when plugged in at home.

I would contact Gary at EA and see if he has some troubleshooting suggestions to isolate the issue.

I also had similar symptoms with a couple of CX era EA cabs a few years ago.... voice coil problem or something like that... a cellophane crinkling type sound... EA replaced the drivers and all was OK.

I had a similar problem in the last week with a crackle/buzz and loss of power in my older iamp 800 at practise/jam.
Thought i had blown the speakers and ,or horn but hooked up the p.a. to the speakers and they were all right.
Changed cables still happening ,took out the brand new battery and put it back in the bass and it seemed to fix it.
At home i had a play with my passive frettless and it started again and i started having depressing thoughts about stuffed pre-amp section or the legendary dodgy capacitors of past.
I cast an eye over the control panel and saw that the D.I. button was on from our usual bar gig with p.a. support so i turned it off and the problem was gone.
Went to practise last night and amp was back to normal?
something to do with loading at D.I.:confused:
