Thanks! I opened up the CXL110 cabinet and after a bit of research used a multimeter to confirm the woofer is dead (no connection measured at all between the terminals, tested while disconnected from crossover).
The label printed on the woofer says "1025CXK/105-6" and says it's 4 ohms (independently of the crossover anyway). No manufacturer visible that I can see.
Looks like I'll have to hunt for a replacement. I'll try contacting Eminence as you suggested.

Interestingly, the coaxial tweeter driver is a "Pyramid Gold Series" TWD60 rated 150W / 8 ohms.

I think this is indeed a custom Eminence woofer, as one of the smaller numbers printed is 67-0234D0033. the 67-0234 part would indicate built by Eminence (67) in 2002 (02) in the 34th week of the year (34). Not sure what D0033 would mean.

You could possibly just have that driver re-coned if you want to maintain originality. I know the Eminence 1025CXK is long gone.

A buddy of mine with a pair of these same cabs blew out the 10" drivers in both and replaced them with Celestion BN10-300X's. Specs are very similar to the old Eminence and the cabs sounded sweet and performed well with the Celestions.

I don't think recone kits for these are available.
I wrote to eminence and got this response:

I wrote back and asked if any of their current drivers might be suitable and didn't get a reply yet.
Also I'm unsure what they mean "it looks like some of them are still around".
Searching has not turned up any of these drivers.

Interesting suggestion about the Celestion BN10-300X - those appear to be normal full-range drivers, no tweeter, and one thing I liked about the EA CXL110 was the really smooth top end - kind of like what people are now calling "FRFR" cabinets, good for using with modelers. EA was ahead of the curve!​

I know it’s not the same, but Gollihur Music still has Wizzy10 drivers for sale. Replacing a CXL110 speaker driver with a Wizzy10 driver is a simple job. I just did that on a CXL110 last week.

I wonder if something like Eminence's current 10" neodymium coaxial might work, and how well it would work with the existing tweeter and crossover (which seem to still work).

Yes, you can use the KL3010CX-8 which would lighten the cabinet significantly. You also have the option of reconing the driver but it requires a very skillful reconing service assuming they can get the right parts since it is a proprietary design.

I think I am going to try that Kappalite and see how it goes. It might take me a while but will report back once done!

I saw an earlier post where John mentioned the equivalent 12" model ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed] ) works well in the CXL112, if anybody is looking for replacements for that cab.

I've searched the thread a bit, curious about the internal HPF on the micro550. An early post describes that there is little to no information on it's operation in the owner's manual (confirmed!) and that the word from the designer is that the 6db slope makes it's impact very subtle at best.

Have any of you folks experimented with it, and have you come to any conclusions of your own about it's use. If you can describe how it functions, that would be interesting too.

My own(considerable) research on first order (6dB/octave) HPFs is that they are more or less useless for anything except for tone modification, and even at that they are a challenging approach (which is why almost nobody uses them).

When an iAmp800 was my primary amp, I used FDeck's HPF/Pre III and the results were great. Without a steep roll-off, the prodigious bass that seemed nice at bedroom volume was too much of a good thing at gig volume.

I finally bought and installed an Eminence Kappalite KL3010CX-8 in my dead CXL110.
It sounds good! And lightened the cab by about 6 pounds - a very noticeable difference.
(24.5 lbs on my luggage scale; previously was 31 lbs.)

Pricey though.
I kept the existing crossover and HF driver which were still working.

The hardest part by far was unscrewing the tweeter from the existing driver - it had stuck hard sometime in the past 20 years. I was at wit's end but finally after much googling landed on using a "filter wrench", also known as adjustable strap wrench. It's just a handle with an adjustable rubber strap to grip the round object you're trying to unscrew, gives you a lot more grip and leverage. I bought Invalid Link Removed at AutoZone and it worked!

I have an iAMP 350 (it's currently getting fixed, was sitting dormant for a LOOOONG time, no signal). I'm hoping that once back up and running I can use it for a combo bass/guitar rig.

For bass, I'll just use it as it was meant to be used. But I was thinking I can turn off all the EQ and use it as a power amp for guitar (paired with a GT-1000Core modeler). I'll be running into an Aguilar GS112 which I goofed around with as a guitar extension speaker and felt worked.

I really need this combo setup for the project I'm getting involved with. I'd like to avoid shelling out more money for something like a Seymour Duncan powerstage (though, I supposed I could try to sell the iAMP to fund that kind of thing).

What do you think? Very open to ideas. Wasn't 100% sure where to put this post.

Does the amp have an effects input or power amp
In jack? Generally these insert points are post-eq and line level, which would work better with the output of your guitar processor.

It does have a send/return. Good idea... I will definitely test that approach.
