Ear out of tune?

This is a pretty strange question but does anyone else think one of their ears is out of tune? Ever since I started playing bass I've had problems where I imagine it's out of tune. It would drive me mad, especially playing live, but the band (and my tuner) would disagree, but it still bugged me.

Tonight I had my cans on, as I practice through a multitrack, and had one ear out to play along with a song coming out the laptop. I couldn't believe the difference it was like my bass was magically tuned, can't believe I never noticed this before. Does anyone else experience this?

i get this all the time on upright bass. part of the problem is that when you're really in tune with everyone it can be hard hearing yourself as a distinct voice. it's also just hard judging tuning at the low/high end of hearing.
