Marketing pro here and I co-sign.We are unique because we are non traditional.
this is marketing I can get behind
Not a bass, but an Eart guitar got good reviews from Phillip McKnight
I live in Europe so the pricing is different.
- Farty McPbass roasted mahogany, roasted maple, rolled fret edges, 329 euros.
- Squier CV poplar body, indian laurel fretboard, 429 Euros.
Harley Benton basswood or poplar, amaranth fretboard, 100 - 120 euros.
Sire p5 alder body, roasted maple neck, rolled fret edges, 450 - 550 euros
I think a healthy dose of scepticism is in order. And the HB is way cheaper. But they only come in black and often need more than just a basic setup to be playable. And the body wood is not the most durable. And it doesn't say fart on the headstock wich in my opinion all basses deserve. "That Fart of yours has some serious low end". The coversations are endless. And let's not go into having a middy growl...
My experience with the CV is that the often need a lot of fret work, I cut myself more than once playing on them in stores. The glossy finish also needs a lot of scotch brite And the neck is a little too chunky. So to me paying for a Fender Player is worth it in comparison.
My somewhat naive hope is that I could get a high quality body and neck with good finish right away. Thst way I would only have to upgrade it with a killer pickup and if needed better electronics. And if the tuners and bridge are ok then I am under the cost of a CV.
The resell value will of course be crap but that is most often the case for non high end basses.
I might take a chance actually. Take one for the team! I am very sensitive to group pressure so if two or more say I should buy it then I have to, right?
Those basses looks pretty traditional to me.We are unique because we are non traditional.
That's not a bad price for a custom Ken Smith these days.
right, e.g., the glarrys/others.Most of the other Chinese stuff has been aimed at the rock bottom dollar market.
no kidding!I love all these people being all dismissive about these instruments… and they haven’t even played them!
not the same --- unfair comparison! one is a fake, the other is a brand. but to @Smooth_bass88's point: have you played the fake?So does this.
ok, i'm one of 'em --- get that beast and tell us all about it in your NBD thread!I might take a chance actually. Take one for the team! I am very sensitive to group pressure so if two or more say I should buy it then I have to, right?
