I also did this, and got the same result. Through my X-Blender, Blumes is in ohase with the clean signal.

After comp, but I use it for mid to high gain, so if you want it cleaner and a more dynamic response, maybe try it before.

Just to confirm what John stated, all the gain or buffer stages in the Blumes are non-inverting configuration as per the opamps.

Post comp on one board, and no comp on another. It does well in both scenarios.

Got my Blumes use case sorted now: to add a mid boost drive into my mid scooped b3k, pick style. Growl and grind without fizz.
Thanks to the posts pointing out that it's good to stack with, and the frequency responses.

Before. Knowing it's going to cut my mids so slamming some extra in early to compensate. The b3k has a very defined eq curve that I really like so that's last in chain. It's shaping what comes through it

I stand corrected!! It does not reverse polarity, it blends well and I don’t know where I got those results from

I’m really liking the Blumes with my Pbass with flatwounds. The Blumes adds a little bit of sustain (volume drop-off is not so steep anymore) and it makes the flats (which can tend towards muddy) nice and punchy now. Actually, the Blumes can easily get too punchy IMO. I like all 3 modes but I like to keep the tone around 9:00 for solid low end, and the gain anywhere between say 8:00 and noon. There are a ton of good tonal options here. It’s not getting into full blown fuzz territory but for less-rad dirt needs, it’s really really good IMO.

I absolutely love this pedal and, while I understand it's not going to be for everybody, reading through this thread I was kind of surprised to see that the people that DIDN'T love it seemed to not love it instantaneously and unequivocally, back in the box and gone.

Meanwhile, I'm over here contemplating getting a second Blumes because (to my ear) it sounds great as an OD on its own, but it makes my other dirt pedals sound so much better when it's used as a clean-ish boost (Mode 2/9:30) that I think I want to keep one around always-on in that role.

The only thing stopping me is I can't choose which of the 12 color schemes I want for the second. Twelve seems kind of excessive, does EQD always release so many variations?

I keep liking it more and more as well. It really cuts through a mix nicely and can help other pedals sound better. I also like that it’s so simple. Sometimes I wish you could adjust it more, but I also like that I have to work within its limitations.

Works great, arguably better in the FX Loop of the stomp. If you run it in parallel, you get more character from your clean bass signal, plus a pleasant warmth and boost of bass. Some character gets diminished, but boosting the tone to 1-3 o'clock reintroduced some of that high end magic. I'm using this only for some grit and slight break up for boosting during a chorus or for really big moments.
Using it for a whole song? I just reduced the output of my preset about 2db and its slightly higher than unity with my normal signal.
Pretty good pedal for the price.

Sorry if someone else has already asked but how does it sound with a solid state amp? Hear so much about how overdrive pedals work best into tube amps but I have a Markbass head.

i just replaced the volume pot which was a B100k (linear taper), with an A250K (audio taper) and it has a much better range of sweep. i probably could have gone with an A500K or even an A1M, but i'm happy with the A250K.

What type of pot should I get? (I assume is smaller than the standard bass pot?)

any advise for trying this for myself?
