Easily Acquirable 7 String Fretless?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by SalmonCubes, Oct 7, 2013.

  1. Is there such a thing? I've heard of some people buying 7 string basses for Conklin and such and defretting them, but what options are there in the world of 7 string fretless basses outside of custom basses?

I was in Miami about a month ago on a business trip and got to play a 7 string fretless conklin being sold used at Guitar Center. Give them a call to see if they still have it. It played very nicely for a beastly 7. It sounded good too.

  3. Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know if it was a defret or factory fretless?

Woodo makes a fretless neck through 7 string for like $1500

  5. You could check out BassMods for low cost 7-strings. I don't specifically recall seeing a fretless, but you could confirm by contacting them.

  7. I've heard about this thing. Super neck heavy, tight string spacing, flimsy, and really just bad quality. For under $200 I can't really complain though. I listened to the only sound sample I could find of it on youtube and it's pretty decent sounding for DI.
