East Coast Heat Wave!!

Whereas here we get dumped on in the winter and suffer through painfully hot and humid summers.

I have always wondered why people chose to settle here, as opposed to somewhere less extreme. If I could find a part of the world where the temperature is a consistent 22-23C, I would never leave. I hear some parts of Argentina are like that.

Well my hometown gets to -60 easily I don't mind the cold so much as the heat. But it seems like the east coast has it worse always some freeze or heat wave or blizzard or flying laser shooting monkeys in the middle of a hurricane.

According to Weather Underground the temp in DC has just hit 3 digits. I was going to make a bank run today (2 blocks up 13th Street NW) but I think it can wait.

My wife and I traded cars for the week since her A/C is about gone; she drives during the day and I park all day at a Metro garage, so that's fair.

Just keep your AC to about 73 or 74. That way you won't overload the grid and knock my power out here in the heartland.

BTW - our weather has been fantastic lately. The winter was mild and the spring and summer have been great. The Midwest is the place to be...at least lately.

Ya gotta love the power outages also! Apparently this is a record for load on the grid in the Southern NJ / Philly area. These are the sorts of topics one discusses with power engineers!

We have our bedroom on the 3rd floor of a house & for 2 nights in a row, forgot to turn the AC on 3-4 hours ahead of time. Despite an exhaust fan on all day, sleeping on a warm bed (in July) is no fun, particularly with lots of sweat. Ugh.

This definitely puts running outside on hold for a while! I'll stick with some hard rowing inside in the meantime!

Even that doesn't help sometimes... last night we did that and the bed, covers and freaking walls were still radiating heat by the time we went to bed. Our upstairs seems to be a once-converted attic and nothing short of stuffing an iceberg inside will keep it cool in this weather.

It was pretty hot here in New Hampshire yesterday. 101°F (38°C).

Not quite as hot here today, but it seems just as bad because the humidity is a little bit worse today. 94°F right now.

Yeah it was in the upper 70's this morning when I left for work at 7:00AM.

Gonna be another hot one. Yesterday the official high was 98, not as bad as the day before. Today is going to be about the same.

On the news this morning they had the 5 day outlook and Sunday it had High of 87 and "Cool" written in the description, LOL. I guess 87 is considered cool when you're into triple digits for a while.
